Drywall is getting close to being finished

Friday I had the day off. Was suppose to go to Cedar Point for the day but something came up. Still took the day off and just took care of things around town. In the evening I started preping some of the walls in the garage and basement. Just touched up and got ready for sanding.
Saturday I continued to get things ready and then at 6pm I went and rented the porter cable drywall sander and vac system from Home-Depot. Man this things was totally worth it. Came to a total of 65 bucks. 40 to rent, 4 bucks for insurance policy and the rest for sand disc, foam pad and vacum bag. This thing was pretty much a dustless setup. Very little dust made it into the air. It made quick work of all the sanding. Had the sander for 24 hours. Worked on the garage first. Then moved on to the main room in the basement. By about 12:30 in the morning I was dead. My back and sholders were done. It was good to have those ares finished though. Got up the next morning and touched some areas up and then relaxed for a bit. Had my future brother-inlaw over for the rest of the day sunday and he sanded the bathroom, office and utility room. We took the sander back about 5 minutes before it was due back. Just in time. Was great to get it all done. I would have been sanding for a few weeks straight if I did it all by hand. I need to sand all the corners in the basement since the sander could not get all the ways into the corners. I also have one wall to touch up a bit in the main room. Utility room only has one spot to clean up and finish and the bathroom is pretty much ready to do also. Office I have to work on a few corners but that is close to being ready also. Want to prime the garage first and then prime the utility room. Then will prime the bathroom and office and main room. After I prime the utility room I probably will not paint it anymore. May just put two coats of primer on it. I need to go start picking out paint for the other rooms soon. Think I will go with a light grey for main room. Maybe a blue for the office and a light grey in the bathroom. The garage I am going to do a light tan I think. Will try to do a wall a night this week in the garage. Hope to have that primed by end of the week.

Will try to get a few pictures of the progress up on the site this week. Hopefully before I prime.

I hope I can get primer on most of the walls so I can get the knock down ceiling going in at least the office and the bathroom. Main room will take a saturday for sure. That will be a bit of a job, the other rooms should go pretty quick.

Just in time

Got home from work last night and went out right away to mow the yard. About 15 minutes into it I noticed the breeze was picking up and it was cooling off just a little bit. Well by the end of mowing it was looking like a storm was coming in. Finshed up and then went in and got dinner started. Finished up grilling and then took taylor for a walk around the neighborhood. On the walk back it started to sprinkle. Well later on it really came down. I was glad I decided to mow again. Even though it was only 3 days after I mowed previously. It needed it and with the rain last night I am sure it will grow a bit more. It was 57 degrees this morning on the drive to work. Man that was nice. Only about 20 degrees cooler than it has been in the morning.

Lawn update

Well over the weekend I was able to mow the hay field. Just kidding. Was not as bad as I thought it might be. I did fill up our yard waste container though. That thing stinks now. I didn’t have to mow it twice (one at a high setting and then once again at the lower setting). Had to change the bag quite often but it was not bad. It was a very hot day though. Just being out and mowing totally killed me. Came in and after a nice shower I just laid around most of the afternoon. Was glad to get it out of the way saturday afternoon though. Sunday was even more hot and humid than saturday. I think this grass can grow just fine bacause of all the humidity in the air right now. Hopefully this hot humid weather will pass quickly.

The weather has been a bit strange lately

Since I put fertilizer on the lawn last week it has rained almost everyday. Hopefully my mower can keep up. I have not been able to mow for almost a week because it has been way to wet lately. Hopefully I can get out tomorrow morning and mow before it is to long to mow once. I may have to actually mow two times in the same day so I do not work the mower to hard. I think if I bag I can mow just once and not have to change the mow height just yet. Every night this week it has rained a bit so the grass was to wet to cut. Hopefully that will change tomorrow.

What a hot humid weekend

Wow, with the two storms that came through and the hot temps, I was sure glad our air was working. Just stepping outside to cook on the grill you started to drip. Went out and mowed the yard late sunday evening and man it was still hot. Grass has just been mowed on thursday evening. Was able to get it mowed and fertilized before all of the rain. I figure the grass is going to totally take off now. It was not very long but I am sure this week it will need to be mowed 2 times again probably.

Dvd player that looks promising

OPDV971H
I have been looking at projectors and also some dvd players. Just looking at equipment to put in the basement when I finish it. I want to get a new dvd player that has dvi out so I can hook directly to the projector. I found a great review of a relatively cheap dvd player that I will have to keep looking at but it does sound like a great unit for the price. It is the OPDV971H digital DVD player made by oppo digital. The review is at www.projectorcentral.com.

New grill

Genesis B 2005
Well saturday morning I called the local Ace Hardware to see if they had the Genisis Silver C. They had just sold the one they had the previous day. Said they could hold the one coming in on wed. for me. So I was put on the list. After thinking about it I decided to head on over to the store to take a look. Was thinking I really didn’t need that side burner and the Genesis Silver B would be great. It was nice to get the upgraded version of the Genesis B. It came with stainless steel grates and flavorizor bars. They have a 7 year warrenty instead of the 1 year on the other hardware. Was only 20 bucks more and an easy choice since that was the only one they had in stock. Ended up taking one that was still in the box since the box would fit in the back of my jeep and the assembled one would not. Took me about an hour to put together. They are very easy to asseble. The only bad thing is I have to get rid of all the card board and packaging now. There is alot of it also. Hopefully I can get that all out in the garage this week. Have cooked on it 5 times already. Love it. Does a great job. Still learning the differeneces between my old cheap one and this weber. Everything has turned out fine so far. Even cooked some corn on the cob last night. Plan to keep cooking on it for many years to come. I also spent the extra money and bought their over priced cover for it also. Very well made cover and worth the price I believe. Will probably get some cooking tools eventually also. Have a nice set right now but they do not hang on the hooks. Discover now lets you get gift cards for ace with their cash back bonus program. Used $125 in card to get the grill and cover. Will get another 2 probably to get the tools eventually.

Moved sprinkler head instead of putting another in

I decided I would just move an existing sprinkler head instead of putting an additional one in. Only had to move it about 5 feet. Now the head can get the old area and also about a 5 to 10 square foot area that was kind of dry and thining out. Ran it a few times and with the rain from last night and today I hope that area greens up pretty quick. I need to check and see when I need to put down the next lawn application. It has to be getting close.

One more sprinkler head

I have decided that I will be putting one more large sprinkler head in the backyard. There is one area next to the house that seems to be very dry and gets a bunch of sun. I have 3 heads in that area already but only one seems to give the whole area water. The other two get most of the area. I figure if I put one more in that is in the center of the area and have it water just that area as much as possible, I think that dry area should go away. The only problem with doing this is it will make that zone have 5 large heads on it. My only zone that has 5 heads. Should be fine but wanted to stay away from having 5 heads on one zone. I may put smaller spray heads on the existing heads to make sure I have enough water pressure on that zone. Hopefully I can get to that tonight or tomorrow.
