Well the nice four day weekend is over and I am back to the normal grind this morning. Man it was nice to have a relaxing extended time off. Ended up just staying home the whole time. Since the weather was so bad wed night last week, we did not head to the east side of the state. We just stayed home and had a nice relaxing day together. I was able to get a bunch of work done on the basement and on friday we were stupid enough to head out and get some shopping done. We ended up getting nothing really. Hated the crowds so we just came home. We did get all of our presents wrapped though. Jenny was able to finish up almost all of our christmas shopping on sunday though. We have all the presents wrapped and labeled and only have 2 more to buy I believe. It is nice to be finished so early.
Testing out a new blogging client
It seems to be working much better. I have been posting to the blog using the web interface for quite some time. I love a blogging client called w.bloggar. The author released a new client and should have all the bugs worked out shortly.

Another weekend I accomplished nothing
It was nice though. Had a few friends up and had a nice weekend of xbox games. We had two xbox’s at the house over the weekend. Wish we had three, one for each person, but two was better then one. We fired up Xlink/Kai, and started testing things and playing halo2. We found that if the person hosting had a bad lag problem the game really sucked. So we started hosting our own levels and then had no problems. Could play and didn’t seem to see much lag at all for the players. Sunday we decided it was so cool that you could talk in the game we had to go out and get a few mics for the xbox’s. We bought two and brought them home and played a bit more. Wasn’t as cool as we thought it would be but still was nice. When you have team play you can hit the white button and talk to your team if you want. Otherwise if you are around another player, when you talk you can be heard, that is only if you are close enough to the player. Still very cool. I have no need to get xbox live at all now. Xlink/Kai is great. I finally saw what xbox live it like and it really does not do much more that I can tell for the game. Does look like there never will be lag issues but if I host games I do not see lag issues anyway.

Main room in basement is getting cleaned up
Last night I spent about an hour cleaning out the main room in the basement. I still have a ways to go but I have much of the junk out of there. I moved all of our boxes and furniture into the almost drywalled office. I want to clear out the batroom area so I can work on drywalling that area also. I need to move the tv and stereo and the projector. I will need help with those two items. The rest is just tools and materials in the room. I plan to clean up some of the extra drywall peices tonight. Will through as much of those peices out. Plan to move the doors I am storing on one wall and probably will end up moving the table saw into the utility room for good also. After that I want to start moving all the drywall from the wall they are against to the finished wall. I can then start to drywall the outside walls. Just work my way around to the bathroom wall. That will probably be the last wall I drywall since that is the wall I will have to take apart to get the shower and cabinets into that room. I hope I can get those items by christmas.

Basement is going slow again
Have not done much on the basement as of lately. I really need to clean the main room up and move most of the stuff into the office area. I want to bring the deck furniture in also. I have one wall pretty much all drywalled. Just need to put two small peices up. I have almost one whole run of the ceiling finished. Need to take 4 of the can lights apart and finish up the rest of this side of the ceiling. I can then move on to the other side. Would like to get most of the ceiling drywall up soon so I can move most of the wall drywall over to the other wall and finish up the speaker wires so I can drywall another wall. I need to finish up the projector conduit and then I can finish up the ceiling also. Only a few small projects to finish up before I can finish the drywall. One that is driving me nuts is there is a creek in the floor sometimes. I do not know where it came from but I want to fix that before I move to much further.

Fall cleanup
Hopefully yesterday was the last day I will need to mow the yard this year. It is nice having small trees. Not to many leaves. Was able to plant a few tulips also. Taylor (our dog) decided she wanted to mess some of the mulch up. She somehow was able to pull the landscaping fabric out of one of the areas next to the deck. Mulch was everywhere. was able to clean most of it up. Got the snow blower out yesterday. Started up without a problem. Let it run a bit and clean it up. Put it back in the garage and put the hose reel where I had stored the snow blower for the summer. Now I all need to do is make sure I do not need to mow anymore and then I can clean up the mower the rest of the way and change the blade and then put in up on a shelf in the garage. Want to mop the garage floor one more time to clean up things and I think I will be ready for winter. News this morning said we may get just a light snow shower tomorrow. I doubt it but we shall see.

Fall is here
I was finally able to winterize the sprinkler system and bring the hose in last night. I have been wanting to take care of both of those items for about a week now. It always seems like I get home and get our dog up and out, get dinner started and change the clothes. Eat dinner. At this time I look outside and it is already getting dark. Amazing how early it gets dark right now. It looks like I may have to take a half day vacation just to get the lawn mowed. I hope I can get home one day this week and head right outside and mow really quick. Then I can come in and take care of the rest. Maybe even tonight. Hopefully I can witerize the lawnmower and get it put up on the new shelf I made this summer. Then I can bring out the snow blower and gas it up and make sure it is running good. Then put it in the lawnmowers place. I wonder how long it will be before we get our first snow. I have heard it is going to be a big year for snow. Only time will tell. Now it is time to get kicking on the basement again. I didn’t have time to work on it at all this past weekend. Need to get back to it soon.

Basement update
Have not done much to the basement in the past weeks. Last thing I have done was put the gas line in. I hope to start work on the basement again tonight. I want to move a light about an inch up. Messed up on one of the lights in the hallway. Then I can drywall the whole hallway (hopefully this weekend). I need to cut a hole in one of the sheets of drywall for the speaker jack I covered up. That should be a quick fix. I hope this weekend I can get some help and put drywall up along the once side of the room. I can then finish up the whole inside wall. I just want to get a few walls done. I can then keep moving accross the room. I still need to finish up the speaker main jack on the outside wall. Just need to be all cleaned up and mounted on the wall there. Move the one electrical jack into a 4 jack plate at the same time. After I do that the only other thing that is left will be building out sofets around two spots. Will leave that for later. I will drywall around them right now. Then cover up with some framing around the spots. Just attach to the studs through the drywall already in place. If I can get help this weekend I hope to get at least the one all finished up. Man I can’ t wait till the drywall is finished. It will really start to look like a finished basement at that point. I need to pick up the bathroom fixtures soon. Need to get them in the bathroom and installed before I can finish the bathroom drywall and also the wall in the main room the bathroom is on. I have to take that wall apart to get things like the shower and maybe the cabinets into that room. So many things to do still.

Now this is overkill
Why would you want to have 400 hours of available recording time on a replaytv. I have 2 40 hour units and have never run out of space. I just copy shows over to my media server if I have not watched them in three days. It happens automatically. Never have even come close to using up the space on the replays. Here is a link to a guy that is playing with a 400 gig drive in a replay. Soon he will be putting two of those drives in a replay to have a 800 hour replay407 hour 400GB Single Drive Upgrades – AVS Forum
