WordPress development looks like it is coming along just fine

It has been awhile since I have seen anything posted on the dev blog at the wordpress site. Today I noticed that matt had posted again. Some of the new features look great. I may have to upgrade to the current cvs before the official 1.3 comes out.

Finally broke down and bought a SPA-3000

I have been wanting to get a sipura voip device for quite some time. I finally bought one about a week ago from Voxilla. Just got it on tuesday evening. Had a few problems getting it working but think I have it setup pretty nice now. Plenty of tweaking and playing to do still but I think it is working pretty good so far. I might have it setup correctly now so when you dial from the phone at home you will not know if you are dialing out over the pstn (sbc landline) or over one of the internet voip providers I have configured on my asterisk box. Pretty slick so far.

A few things happening

Well the Screen door that we special orderd from HOME DEPOT came in on thuesday. Picked it up tuesday evening. Have it home and ready to install. Installed called yesterday afternoon, called them back and have scheduled them to install monday afternoon. So I decided to take the whole day off work. I have been getting ready to build a set of shelves for the one side of the garage. I have it down on paper and have most of the tools and parts I need. I will go out tonight or tomorrow maybe and get the wood and get it cut for the actual shelve area. After that I just need to borrow a friends router so I can knotch out some of the peices. Hopefully I can get that taken care of monday while I am home. I may have to dig up the mainline on the sprinkler system. I think I am going to go ahead and put a valve in right next to the house to turn on and off when the whole system turns on. That will fix any future leak problems for sure. Probably will take about 5 bucks in parts and about an hour or so my my time. Hard part will be digging it up and extending the wire to the new area I have to put this valve. Oh I have to get a new valve box also. That or just dig the one I am not using up. Na, I will do that some other time.

Fixed a big leak in the sprinkler system over the weekend

Saturday morning I got up at the normal time. Finished up a spot in the side yard that I forgot to mow Friday night. Then got the shovels out and started to dig up two valves in the backyard for the sprinkler system. They were about 6 inches from each other. I was not sure which one was leaking but knew one of them was leaking bad. Hooked up the air compressor to the system and pressurized the system to about 65 psi(15 psi more than normal pressure on the system). I use air to make sure the system can hold up to more than normal water pressure and I also like to use air not waste because if I need to I can blow all water out of that line so I do not have a hole full of water that i am working in. So right away after I put pressure on the system I saw where the water was leaking(actually shooting out of a seam). Tried to tighten that spot. That didn’t help at all. So I have to blow out the water in the main line and then cut the main line about 8 inches back. Put in another connector and put that piece back in the main line. Tightened the main line down and then went back and power up the compressor again. This time I had a very small leak. So I tightened the clamp down a bit more and all was good. Let the system sit for a few and then put water back through. Ran zone 1 and zone 8 (the two end zones on the system) to get water back in the main line. Then when that zones shut down I just let the system sit for the rest of the day. At the end of the day I noticed just a small area of water under the one connection. Noticed it dripped every 10 seconds or so. That was good enough for me. Don’t think I can get the system totally leak proof but very close. A drip every so often is not bad at all. So Sunday evening I went out and filled the hole back in and put the grass back around the area and then seeded a bit to make sure that area grew back nice and think in a few weeks. All should be set on the sprinkler system now.

Not much going on this week

Haven’t really updated the blog much lately. Seems like I have not been doing much lately. But in reality I have been busy every evening. Doing what I have no idea. This weekend I hope to have the sears guy fix the freezer water frozen at the bottom of the freezer problem. I hope to get the leak in the main line of the sprinkler system fixed. I hope to get a shelving system started if not finished on the one side of the garage. I will probably mow the lawn tonight, it all depends on what the weather presents. If it is not raining when I get home I will mow. So many things I want to do, just need to start planning and getting these things done.

Long weekend was so needed

Well this past weekend was so nice. What is even nicer is the short 4 day work week. Tomorrow the week will be half over. So we were gone for most of the weekend. Got back in the evening last night. Brought most of the stuff in from the car and headed right back out to mow the yard. It was getting pretty long. Ended up not being as bad as I thought it might be but was still a bit to clean up. Nice to see the lawn nice again. Need to get watering it again. We have not had rain in awhile. Lawn is starting to dry up a little bit.
This week I hope to get a few things cleaned up in the basement so I can keep working on the office area down there. I need to decided what to do with my fish tank. What to do, downsize it and put it in my 30 gallon tank with a smaller sump and skimmer, or just get rid of it altogether. Not sure what I will be doing. We came home to the tank totally stopped. No pumps were running at all. I unpluged the ups and then powered it back on. That didn’t do it. Then I reset the fuse that popped on the back of it. Wow I foudn the problem. One of my x10 units must have gotten a bit of salt or water or something in it because that thing just started sparking when I reset the fuse. Wow, that startled me. Good thing I had the ups there to get triped. I also need to fix a valve in the backyard. It seems to be leaking a bit. Want to get that fixed so I can start watering the lawn before i get up in the morning.

Have not posted for about a week or so.

Been a bit busy and trying to enjoy the summer also. Over the weekend I was able to fix/replace my rear windshield wiper motor on the jeep. The old one just stoped working. Was glad to see it working again. Was not to hard to replace either. I also finished up sealing the deck. Started to rain this morning and the sealer seemed to be doing it’s job well. Water was beading up nicely. I did not get around to fertilizing the yard and fixing a leak in sprinkler system in the middle of the backyard. I hope to get the that leak this week sometime.

What a relaxing long weekend

Went up to the UP with some friends. Spent friday thru sunday camping on Government Island which is located just off of michigans upper pensula. Weather was ok, a bit cold but sunday it was beautiful. Got a bit burnt on the nose. Had a little rain when we first got setup friday night. Stopped in no time and we got the fire burning good again and sat down to a nice pork chop dinner. Was good to get away from the city for awhile. Now we are all back to the normal pace monday. Time to get back to the normal work schedule.

Sometime this week I need to get out and mow the yard and try to get the first coat of sealer on my deck. Hopefully the rain will hold off today and I can get the lawn mowed tonight. Then if it rains I at least have caught up on the grass. Would be nice to get that deck sealed this week. Hopefully we won’t get to much rain that it soaks the deck last week.

Finally the rain stopped

Over the weekend the rain stopped for almost two days. I was able to get out and power wash the house and then the deck. The deck needs some major attention. I have to clean up a few spots on the deck and then I will let it dry for a few days and seal it again. This time I bought the more expensive deck sealer at home depot, hopefully it will last the 4 years it says it will.

On sunday the grass seemed to be plenty dry so I went out and mowed the lawn. Bagged it because of how long it was. The lawn is looking great now. Front yard is coming along very nicely. After all this rain it is nice and dark and seems to be getting fewer and fewer weeds in it. Coming in nice an thick finally. Will just keep working at it till all weeds are gone.

After all of the deck washing my back is killing me. Hopefully it will go away in another day or so.

Was just looking at pictures of our dog

I need to take some new pictures. I just can’ t believe how much she has grown and changed. Here is a picture of her at about one month old. Just amazing how small she used to be. She is getting better as she gets older. Such a smart dog, most of the time. Other times we think she hit her head one to many times when she was very young. She is only a year and a half old. Will be two years old in a few months. Getting much easier to be around though. Sometimes she has more energy that she knows what to do with but she learns very quick that we don’t want to play all the time. Just keeps trying other toys to see if it is the toy we don’t like 😆
