For some reason my fileserver/webserver at home locks up every so often. It seems to happen when I am backing up the pc across the network. I do a full backup once a week. The server does not lockup every week. Wonder what is happening. Oh well, will figure it out sometime. Maybe it is time to put everything into it’s new case I have had for over a year. Maybe then there will be enough air flow so it does not heat up as much. Will try to move everything tonight.
New basement picures are up
I have not done much in the past week on the basement but here are the updated photos. I will plan on sanding a few nights this week and touching up a few spots also. I have 5 more gallons of primer ready to go up. Hopefully that will be enough to finish up the basement. Jenny and I have picked the color for the walls. I have found the rubber trim I want to put along the bottom of the walls (baseboard) for the utility room and garage. I have to find out if I can get 5 gallon buckets of paint tinted. If I can then I will buy paint that way and save 2 dollars a gallon. I still need to get 5 gallons of ceiling paint and find the correct paint for all the trim work. Right now it looks like I will be spending at least 500 dollars on paint alone for the basement and garage. I never even thought about how much paint was going to be. 20 bucks a gallon adds up quick. Luckily the ceiling paint and the primer is a bit cheaper. Primer was 29 bucks for 5 gallons and ceiling I hope will be 50 or so for 5 gallons. I want to get the bathroom sanded and primed this week so I can spray texture on office and bathroom ceiling. Still need to take final measurements and figure out if I will be making shelves and cabinet for back corner of bathroom or building a small wall to put a very small 18 inch door there. Then I can build shelves and paint everything in there instead of staining the cabinets and shelves. The problem will be finding a door and door jam to fit this small area. The area I am talking about is in the back left area of the bathroom next to the shower.

Planted a few bulbs and moved a few plants last night.
Spent an hour or so out in the humidity last night moving and planting about 80 tulip bulbs. I had planted a few in the backyard last year and taylor found it was fun to bite at them and pull them up. I moved all of those into the front yard and then planted a few more. I also moved a plant from the side of the garage to the front of the house, hopefully it will be a better place for it. The last thing I did was move one of the new flowering trees I got when I joined the National arbor foundation last year. We have 3 threes that made it out of the 10 they sent me. This one is doing the best. It is about 2 or 3 feet tall now. It was down next to the mailbox so I moved it up on the side of the house. Hopefully with a little watering it will be ok. I will plan to water the plant tree and bulbs a few times this week and hopefully next spring they will all look great. The mums that I planted in the backyard last fall are coming in great. 4 of the 10 are huge. The others are coming in fine. I hope to get back to sanding the basement for awhile tonight. Hope I can get the bathroom all sanded and touch up any places that need touching up. Then I can start working on sanding the main room. I need to touch up one spot in the utility room and that are will be ready for final coat of paint. I think we have picked the color of paint for the basement, I think i will paint the garage and utilty room the same color also. I think I will probably need 3 or 4 5 gallon buckets of paint to do all of those areas. Time will tell. I am thinking that I will need to touch up a few spots in the garage one more time. Did not go a very good job the last night. I will use a much bigger knife to touch up this time. Hopefully this will be the last I will have to work on the garage before final paint.

Finally some progress on the basement again
Saturday I was able to work on the basement for a few hours again. I sanded a few spots to get ready for primer. I finished priming the utility room. I then moved on to the office. I was able to prime the whole office and then went up to the garage and primed over a few spots I touched up in the garage. I had a little primer left so I used the rest of the primer on part of the ceiling in the main room. Sunday we went to a early movie and then picked up a bunch of stuff. I got a few more 18 inch rollers and another 5 gallon bucket of primer. I hope that will be enough to finish the basement but it probably will not be enough. It is amazing how much primer drywall takes. The office is starting to look like a finished room though. Jenny and I need to pick the color of paint for the basement so I can get a few 5 gallons buckets of that color and finish up the rooms I can get to. I would like to finish up on the bathroom touchup this week and get that room primed. The main room is almost ready to be primed. A few corners to work on still but pretty much ready. I would like to be able to get the bathroom primed and then get the ceiling texture on both the office and bathroom at the same time. I can then put a final coat of paint on the two ceilings and then move everything from the main room into the office so I can finish everything in the main room. I am thinking if I can keep things moving that we may be shopping for carpet by november somtime. Which will be great timing. Can get everything finished up in the main room and office so we can carpet and use those areas. Then finish up bathroom and then look into getting the gas cast iron stove in before it gets to cold. I have started getting my plans and ideas together to build the screen for the projector. Will build a wood frame and cover with black velvet and put a sceen inside the frame. I printed plans off about 2 years ago. Will need to start looking for the projector I want again. I just learned that panosonic came out with a new projector that looks very promising. Or since that new model came out I may be able to pick up the other one I wanted for a bit cheaper. Who knows.

Tivo is back in the store and replay is back to normal
I took the tivo is back at best buy and monthly service has been canceled. I have updated all of the programming that I think we were missing and now have a new server running called wirns. Pretty slick program. If replay goes out of business I will be able to load the program guide onto the replays still. All info and data comes from zap2it.com. So everything is back to the old way and credit card will be refunded soon.

Tivo is going back
Today I will call tivo and cancel the monthly subscription. Tonight after work I will plan to head to bestbuy and take the tivo back. After trying it out last night (first night we tried all recordings and watching nightly shows on it) we both decided that the replay is the one we want to continue to use. I like a few things on the tivo but dislike a few more things about it so it will be going back. Luckily the replay just had a bad drive. I may look for another replay that is cheap just to keep around in case something else goes bad on one of the two we have.

Problem with replay (trying a tivo)
Saturday morning I woke up to find the replay in the bedroom on but no interface. Rebooted a few times and still nothing. I got on-line to see if I can find any deals on tivo’s. I have been wanting to try one since replay is pretty much dead. A great product but no more updates at all. The tivo for 50 bucks is not a bad deal at all. Went out and got a 40 hour unit. I really like a few things on it. Season pass, to-do list, and a few more functions. I don’t like that is does not have comercial advance and a few gui details. I can live with most of the cons though. I want to get the new 7.2 upgrade so i can play with galleon and a few other items. We need to decide soon if we want to keep it so I can send in the rebate. If we dont’ want to keep it we need to take it back and cancel service before 30 days. If we keep I will sell my two 5040’s on ebay and I should make enough off of them to get two 200 or bigger hard drives and keep service on them for a few years. I just want to break even when it is all said and done. I will need bigger hard drives in them if we keep them. 40 gig drives were big enough in the replays. I will need bigger ones for the tivos to keep picture quality good and be able to keep enough shows on them. Looking at getting a wired usb adapter on ebay right now ( I am using a wireless one I had laying around for the time being). I also think I will get a few seagate drives I found online for cheap. 49 bucks for a 160 after rebate and 69 for a 250 or 300 after rebate. May purchase one of those soon. I will need one either way since the problem with the replay ended up being a bad maxtor 40 gig drive. Put another 40 in and all is fine.

Basement progress
I did not make as much progress on the basement as I wanted to. I have the office and the utilty room all sanded and ready for primer. Hopefully it will look good enough that I do not have to touch anything up. I want to finish up on the bathroom so I can prime the utilty room, bathroom and office all at the same time. I can then either get the main room ready and then prime it or I can texture the ceiling in the bathroom and office and then continue to paint both of those rooms. The main room is almost ready for primer. I need to work on the corners a bit to true them up. And I need to touch up and sand a few spots throughout the room. I might be ready to prime that this weekend. Just going slow again. No bid deal because we have not picked out carpet yet and that means I can’t pick the paint either. I have plenty to do before that though. I want to go get paint for the garage (will use that for the utility room also) so I can finish up the garage and utilty room and then go get some rubber trim to put around the bottom of both areas to trim them out and be finished with both areas.

Long weekend that seems very short
Well I took monday off thinking that I would be dead after going to cedar point on sunday. I was. We got up very early sunday morning and got on the road by 6:30am. The traffic was next to nothing so we got to cedar point at 10am. Park was open and we walked right in since we had tickets already. The day was great. Rode all the rides we wanted to ride on. Well almost all of them. For some reason the Top Thrill Dragster was closed. It has been for like a week. No one working on it or anything. Just not running. Man was it nice though. All lines were less than 15 minutes wait time. Many you could just walk up and get on the rid as soon as you made it to the platform. Was so nice. I am always going to go at this time of year just for that reason. So after we rode all the rides it was 3:30. We decided to head home. Got home around 6:30. Kind of a long day but not to long. Monday I worked on the basement for a bit and then cleaned up and headed over to the Kalamazoo Humane Society to work on there network for a bit. Was there for about 3 hours and had to take off. That was about it for the weekend. Woke up this morning with a horrible headache and not feeling good. Hopefully this will go away sometime this afternoon.

Had a bit of a leak over the weekend in the backyard
Monday I was out working on the backyard landscaping near the house. I was edging and cleaning up some weeds. I was going along getting a clean line along the mulch against the house. Thought I might have hit a rock but nope. It was some of the smaller sprinkler line. It is not pressurized until that zone is turned on. I was watering later that day after I mowed and all of a sudden I heard a strange wooshing noise in the back. That zone had just been turned on and there was a pretty good stream of water hitting the house. Turned that zone off and went to look. Sure enough I had put about a 1 inch cut in that line. Went to the garage to see if I have any parts to fix. Yep I did. Later that night I went out to work on it. Had to dig up a little area and cut a 2 inch section out of the line and put a connector in. I can now run a drip line into the flower bed area if I want to. I put a new connector in and tested and all is good. Covered it back up and ran that zone a bit to make sure everything is good. Quick cheap fix and no damage done anywhere else. Just a little teasing from jen.
